Honor 8 Pro Review

Honor 8 Pro one year after marketing, it remains a highly competitive smartphone, with the Kirin 960 processor still a guarantee for its purchase. Huawei's spin off is worthy of the parent company.

Honor 8 Pro, what we find in the box

Inside the box is the 5 and 9 v power supply, which allows the battery to be charged in a couple of hours. Absent is the headset, the only real flaw, but not determined. The treat is the ability to use a portion of the box as a VR goggle. Although it is made of cardboard the lenses are of good quality.

Design and construction

From a visual point of view Honor 8 Pro is very reminiscent of Apple's style. For lovers of the genre, this is a plus. Despite the wide screen, it feels comfortable and quite ergonomic, thanks in part to a little digging around the perimeter. The front features domed glass in a blue tint, and the back cover is metal.

The notification LED is present. The button to turn on the terminal has a knurled effect, which is not displeasing. The fingerprint sensor is excellent, thanks to an abrupt turn on of the display.

Screen

The display is a 5.7-inch Ips, with 2560 x 1440 px 515 ppi resolution. Brightness remains excellent even in bright sunlight, although the sensor is not so quick to adapt to different environments.

CPU Power and RAM / Internal Memory

The processor, which performs its function best, is a Kirin 960 octa-core, 4 from 2.4 gHz, the other 4 1.8 gHz, with Mali G71 GPU. As smooth as it is, it makes the phone heat up with extreme use. The Ram of the Honor 8 Pro hto a capacity of 6 gb; 64 jig those of internal memory, expandable with micro sd, which can be set as default.

Autonomy

Battery from 4000 mAh: good but not great. With high average use, it allows you to comfortably arrive late in the evening with more than 10 % of battery life remaining. Not excellent numbers, but still sufficient.

Software and ecosystem

The operating system is Android Oreo 7.0, upgradeable to Oreo. The Emui 7 interface abounds with features, but from a graphical point of view it does not have any major innovations.

Antennas

Honor 8 Pro is a dual sim, both supported for LTE, with the second compartment usable for the micro sd card. Call reception is excellent, as is the speakerphone.

Camera

Two rear cameras are present. One from 12 mpx with Sony sensor, laser focus and focal aperture 2.2; the other is black-and-white, also with a 12-megapixel Sony sensor.

Very beautiful photos in any light condition. Main gestures include the ability to scan faces in 3d and make avatars of the person photographed. Average video, without optical stabilization.

Honor 8 Pro price

Currently on Amazon l'Honor 8 Pro is on sale under the 350 euro.

Honor 8 Pro review: what I think

After launching at 549 euros, the cost of this phone has dropped significantly, falling widely under 400. From the Honor 8 Pro review, it can be seen that the terminal is of good quality, especially with regard to the construction compartment and camera quality. However, the 'absence of Ip 67 certification and excessive heating when using it heavily cannot be taken into account.
